En un trabajo conjunto del Grupo de Investigación Perspectiva Psicológica en Trastornos del Comportamiento Alimentario y Obesidad, que coordina el profesor doctor José Ignacio Baile en la Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA), y una unidad hospitalaria de cardiología en Alicante, se ha comprobado que los pacientes que tienen cardiopatía isquémica y exceso de peso, tienen peores niveles de calidad de vida que los pacientes que tienen dicha cardiopatía pero no exceso de peso.

Ello indica que el exceso de peso, como la obesidad, es una de las variables claves en la calidad de vida de las personas, de acuerdo con la investigación. Del mismo modo, viene a apoyar uno de los objetivos del Grupo de Investigación relativo a incrementar el conocimiento científico sobre el impacto de alta prevalencia de la obesidad en la salud de nuestra sociedad.

Este es uno de los resultados que se explican en un reciente artículo publicado en la Revista de Salud Pública de México, en su número de marzo-abril de 2018, por el doctor Baile; la antigua estudiante del Grado en Psicología de la UDIMA, María T. Pérez, y la cardióloga Ana Rodríguez. Esta revista está indexada en el Journal Citation Reports, en el área de medicina.
